South Ramsey Bowling Club Awarded Funding for Green Floodlighting Upgrade

South Ramsey Bowling Club has been awarded a grant from Manx Lottery Trust to upgrade the floodlighting at its bowling green, significantly improving safety and visibility for players, particularly during evening and early season sessions.

The funding has been provided through the Dormant Asset Fund, which is managed by Manx Lottery Trust and supports projects that improve community facilities and services, particularly those that promote wellbeing, inclusion, and long-term impact.

The upgrade will see the installation of new floodlight poles at each corner of the green, along with new lighting on each pole. As part of the project, existing cabling and power supplies will also be replaced to ensure the system meets today’s safety and efficiency standards.

Alan Moore from South Ramsey Bowling Club said: ‘We’re incredibly grateful to Manx Lottery Trust for this funding. The improved floodlighting will make a big difference for our members and visitors, especially as we continue to grow the club and host evening sessions and competitions. It’s a much-needed upgrade that will improve both safety and the overall playing experience, and we’re excited to see the benefits it will bring for our community.’

Sarah Kelly, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘South Ramsey Bowling Club is a long-standing and much-valued part of the community, and we’re pleased to support this project through the Dormant Asset Fund. Upgrades like these help local clubs remain accessible, welcoming and sustainable, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it has on members and the wider community.’

The Dormant Asset Fund allocates money from dormant bank and building society accounts to support charitable and community projects across the Isle of Man. It is administered by Manx Lottery Trust on behalf of the Isle of Man Treasury.
