Ramsey Rugby Club to Benefit from Major Floodlighting Upgrade
Ramsey Rugby Club has received a grant of £35,256 from Manx Lottery Trust’s Dormant Assets Fund to upgrade the floodlighting at its Mooragh Park ground.
The existing floodlights, installed in 2013, have served the club and wider community well but are now reaching the end of their lifespan. The lamps and casings at the top of the pylons have deteriorated due to harsh coastal conditions, and replacement parts for the outdated halide technology are increasingly difficult to source.
The project will see new light fittings installed, alongside an upgraded main electrical board and a new cable running from the clubhouse to the pitch side electrical cabinet. As part of the improvements, the club will also stop using a diesel generator, instead connecting to mains power to create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly system.
Simon Mason from Ramsey Rugby Club said: "The new floodlighting system will make a huge difference, not just for our players but for the whole sporting community who use our facilities. The upgrade ensures we can continue hosting training sessions and matches safely throughout the year, while also reducing our environmental impact. We’re very grateful to Manx Lottery Trust for supporting this essential project."
Sarah Kelly, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, added: "Ramsey Rugby Club is an important hub for local sport and community activity. We are pleased to support the club with funding from the Dormant Assets Fund to ensure their facilities remain safe, modern, and accessible."
The Dormant Assets Fund is administered by Manx Lottery Trust and supports projects which strengthen Island communities, improve sustainability, and create lasting impact.
