MLT Awards Grant for Jurby Church Restoration

A grant of £29,000 has been awarded to Friends of Jurby Church through the Dormant Assets Fund from Manx Lottery Trust. This funding will support critical repairs, restoration, and interior updates to Jurby Church, ensuring it remains a safe, secure, and welcoming space for the community.

Repairs identified in the Diocese Quinquennial Inspection Report of 2015 will now be addressed, including the removal of the redundant choir stalls platform, repairs to the altar table platform, and new floor coverings for the carpeted seating area.

The project will also improve the vestry and kitchen, ensuring they are functional and provide adequate storage. These essential updates will preserve the church’s heritage and enhance its usability for future generations.

Sandra Kerrison, from the Friends of Jurby Church, said: ‘We are incredibly thankful to the Manx Lottery Trust for this generous grant. These much-needed repairs will not only restore the church’s interior but will also make the space more usable and welcoming for the community. This funding ensures that Jurby Church continues to serve as a vital hub for worship, community events, and heritage for years to come."

Stephen Turner, Chairman of the Manx Lottery Trust, added: ‘We are pleased to support Friends of Jurby Church in preserving this important historical and community space. This project aligns with the goals of the Dormant Assets Fund by ensuring the church is resilient, adaptable, and capable of meeting future needs. We wish them every success in their restoration work."

The Dormant Assets Fund provides grants of up to £75,000 to help organizations build resilience, adapt to future challenges, and enhance their capacity to serve their communities.
