MANX LOTTERY TRUST ENERGISES ISLE OF MAN HOSPICE WITH FUNDING FOR SOLAR POWER BOOST
Manx Lottery Trust is pleased to announce a significant grant of £47,830 from its Dormant Assets funding to Hospice Isle of Man to support their ambitious solar power initiative. This funding will enable Hospice to complete the installation of an additional 50kW of solar panelling, bringing the total solar power capacity to 100kW.
This initiative is part of the Hospice’s broader project to enhance its sustainability efforts and reduce operational costs. To date, 50kW of solar panelling has been generously donated and will be installed by 'Go Green' in memory of a loved one, with installations happening this summer. The additional 50kW will be installed to maximise the potential of the available roof space and south-facing elevations.
The total cost for the additional 50kW of solar power is £57,830. With Hansard contributing £10,000, the remaining amount of £47,830 has been granted by Manx Lottery Trust.
This solar power expansion is expected to generate significant annual savings of approximately £30,000, given the Hospice’s 24/7 operation throughout the year.
John Knight, Chief Executive of the Isle of Man Hospice, said: “We are incredibly thankful for the support from Manx Lottery Trust. This funding will play a crucial role in our efforts to double our solar power capacity, leading to substantial cost savings and supporting our mission to provide exceptional care. The positive impact of this grant extends beyond financial savings, contributing to our environmental sustainability goals too.”
Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, added: “We are proud to support the Isle of Man Hospice with this grant from our Dormant Assets funding. This project not only enhances the Hospice’s financial resilience but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability and strategic planning. It’s good to see funding contribute to such a meaningful and impactful initiative.”
