MANX LOTTERY TRUST BRINGS BOWLING BOOST TO RAMSEY

One of the most used sporting facilities in the Island will be in better shape all year round, thanks to a grant from Manx Lottery Trust.

It has awarded South Ramsey Bowling Club £5,000 through its Community Awards Scheme.

The funds will allow for a new fully automated sprinkler system to be fitted on the club’s playing surface which is regularly used by both the northern club and visiting teams from all over the Island.

In recent years, the club has invested time and money to improve the surface and was also supported by Manx Lottery Trust in 2019 to purchase a verti cutter.

Glynn Hargraves, one of the greenkeepers at South Ramsey Bowling Club, said: ‘Crown green bowling has never been so popular in the Island and South Ramsey players and the wider bowls community will benefit greatly from this improvement to the green.

‘The sprinkler system will make the best use of water, reduce watering times and maintain the quality of the green and a smooth surface. We are extremely grateful to the Manx Lottery Trust for making this happen.’

Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, Sarah Kelly, added: ‘South Ramsey Bowling Club is such a popular facility in the north of the Island and a real community hub for many, which is why we are delighted to support them. We wish the club’s various teams well throughout the season.’
