GRANT TO MAROWN DISTRICT BOWLING CLUB FOR PATH AND ROOF SHELTER ENHANCEMENTS
Manx Lottery Trust has announced a grant to Marown District Bowling Club to support a significant path and roof shelter project. The grant, provided through the Community Awards Programme, will enable the club to extend the width of their path for improved wheelchair access, enhance access into the clubhouse, and renew the roof on their old shelter, greenkeeper hut, and garage.
The path extension will facilitate wheelchair access all around the green and provide easier entry into the clubhouse from the left side door, including the installation of a ramp. This upgrade is essential for ensuring the facility is inclusive and accessible to all members of the community.
In addition to the path improvements, the grant will fund the replacement of the leaking roof on the shelter, greenkeeper hut, and garage. The greenkeeper hut houses expensive machinery, making the roof renewal a critical step in protecting these valuable assets.
This project represents the final phase of a series of significant upgrades made by the club over the past eight years, which have included a new clubhouse, floodlights, and a shelter. The new path will also feature fencing along the roadside of the green to enhance safety and security.
The enhancements will align with the Isle of Man Crown Green Bowling Association’s recent purchase of its first wheelchair, which will be used for matches, competitions, and come-and-try-it sessions, further promoting inclusivity within the sport.
Philip Kelly from Marown District Bowling Club expressed his appreciation for the grant. He said: “We are incredibly grateful to Manx Lottery Trust for their support. This fun
