FUNDING AWARDED TO REVAMP LOCAL TRIALS PARK

Peveril Motorcycle Club has received funding from Manx Lottery Trust, which will go towards the development of its Trials Park and MX Track.

The club, based at Knock Froy in Santon, will be able to hire a digger, rebuild the existing MX Track, and purchase track materials, including rocks and logs, with the £20,000 boost.

The redevelopment is required due to the increase in riders using the track, since it was last re-vamped three years ago.

Blanaid Higgins, Secretary and Treasurer of Peveril Motorcycle Club, said: ‘It’s been a busy few years for us all at the club, and there is an ever-increasing interest from new riders to take part in the sport, particularly following our ‘come and try our sport’ days. The paddock has a great atmosphere, where riders look forward to visiting, getting together with friends, and discussing the bikes and racing.

‘By improving the facilities, we hope to attract all abilities from beginners to world champions, and youths to adults, and provide them with a safe and legal area to ride their bikes and enjoy themselves. Thank you, Manx Lottery Trust for making this possible!’

Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, added: ‘It’s great to see how supportive Peveril Motorcycle Club are to riders of all ages and abilities, and we hope this funding will encourage more people who might be interested to have a go!’

This grant is from Manx Lottery Trust’s Community Awards Programme. Manx Lottery Trust has been delegated to distribute National Lottery money from The National Lottery Community Fund. To find out more, visit: www.mlt.org.im
