ENERGY AND SUSTAINABILITY CENTRE ISLE OF MAN TO CREATE GROUNDBREAKING SUSTAINABLE POWER WEB APP

Manx Lottery Trust has confirmed a grant of £34,900 to the Energy and Sustainability Centre Isle of Man to develop an innovative web application designed to empower residents with actionable insights into sustainable power options.

This funding, provided through the Trust’s Dormant Assets program, will support the creation of an interactive tool that aligns with the Isle of Man's climate commitments and sustainability goals.

The new web app will provide users with easily digestible information on various sustainable energy technologies, including onshore and offshore wind, solar, hydro-electricity, batteries, bio-fuels, hydrogen, tidal, nuclear, and geothermal.

By allowing users to test their own ideas and preferences, the app will offer detailed results on costs, revenue, carbon emissions, and other benefits and disadvantages of different energy sources. The goal is to help the Isle of Man build a self-sufficient energy mix that is both cost-effective and close to net-zero emissions.

Tracey Fuller from the Energy and Sustainability Centre Isle of Man said: “We are immensely grateful to Manx Lottery Trust for this generous funding. The development of this web app will play a crucial role in increasing public engagement and understanding of affordable, low-carbon energy solutions. It’s an exciting step toward making the Isle of Man self-sufficient in sustainable energy.”

Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, added: “We are thrilled to support this innovative project by the Energy and Sustainability Centre. The web app is a fantastic example of how technology can be used to drive sustainability and empower individuals. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the Isle of Man’s energy future.”
