Motiv8 receives Cash Boost for Therapeutic Spaces Project

Motiv8 has been awarded a £2,500 grant from the Manx Lottery Trust’s Smaller Grants Initiative to refurbish one of their counselling rooms and upgrade seating in a hub room used for group work and counselling.

Operating across seven counselling rooms serving people of all ages, Motiv8 has seen a rise in young clients aged 12 to 18. However, the current family room which is set up for young children and counselling spaces do not fully meet the needs of this age group. The grant will help develop a more relaxing, youth-friendly room that remains versatile for all ages but offers a less clinical, more welcoming environment.

To support young people’s focus and engagement during sessions, the refurbished space will include a cupboard stocked with games such as fidget toys, alongside a small table, chairs, and beanbags.

Nicola Browne Thea Ozenturk, CEO from Motiv8 said: “This grant allows us to create a space that truly reflects the needs of the young people we support. By making the environment more inviting and less clinical, we can better connect with them and help maintain focus, which improves outcomes.”

Sarah Kelly, Chairman of the Manx Lottery Trust, added: “Providing safe, calming spaces for young people to access support is essential. We are proud to assist Motiv8 in enhancing their environment so that every age group feels welcome and supported.”

This funding will help create a flexible, comfortable space that promotes emotional wellbeing and focus, enabling Motiv8 to continue delivering vital services across all age groups.
