MLT Supports Crossroads with Grant for Sensory Toys

The Manx Lottery Trust has announced that it has awarded a grant of £2,500 to Crossroads as part of its Smaller Grants Programme. The funding will enable Crossroads to purchase a variety of sensory toys designed to benefit children, children with disabilities, and adults with disabilities across their day services, including the Social Club, Nursery, Premium Project, and Holiday Scheme.

Sensory toys play a crucial role in enhancing cognitive, emotional, and social development by stimulating multiple senses such as touch, sound, and sight. They also support individuals in developing fine motor skills, sensory processing, and emotional regulation. With this grant, Crossroads aims to provide these essential tools to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for children and adults with disabilities, giving them the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Megan Faragher from Crossroads said: ‘We are incredibly grateful to the Manx Lottery Trust for this generous grant. These sensory toys will make a huge difference in the lives of those we support, helping them to engage in therapeutic and educational play. This funding ensures we can continue to create inclusive environments where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Stephen Turner, Chairman of the Manx Lottery Trust, said: “We are very pleased to support Crossroads with this grant, which will have a direct and positive impact on the lives of children and adults with disabilities. Sensory toys are a valuable resource that promote cognitive and emotional development, and we’re proud that our Smaller Grants Programme can help bring these benefits to the community.”

The grant was awarded through the Manx Lottery Trust’s Smaller Grants programme, which offers straightforward applications for grants ranging from £300 to £2,500, aimed at supporting community initiatives like The Children’s Centre across the Isle of Man.
