MLT Grant Supports Energy Efficiency Improvements at Sight Matters

Sight Matters is set to improve the energy efficiency and reliability of its Corrin Court headquarters with support from Manx Lottery Trust.

A £34,950 grant from the Dormant Assets Fund will enable the charity to replace its ageing and increasingly unreliable boiler system with modern, high-efficiency condensing boilers.

The work will also include new flue systems, upgraded pipework, system filtration and improved heating controls, helping to reduce energy consumption, lower running costs and minimise the risk of disruption caused by boiler failure.

Corrin Court is the charity’s main operational base and hosts rehabilitation support, independent living training, social groups, assistive technology sessions and community activities.

The building is used daily by blind and visually impaired people, many of whom are older or have additional health needs, making a consistently warm and safe environment essential.

Kerry Healey from Sight Matters said: “Corrin Court is at the heart of the support we provide to people living with sight loss across the Isle of Man.

“This funding will allow us to replace an ageing system with a more reliable and efficient alternative, helping us maintain a warm and welcoming environment while reducing our energy costs and environmental impact.”

Managed by Manx Lottery Trust on behalf of Isle of Man Treasury, the Dormant Assets Fund redirects money from inactive bank and building society accounts into projects that deliver lasting benefits for the Island’s communities and voluntary sector.
