Major Roof Replacement Project Secured for St Paul’s Hall

Manx Lottery Trust has confirmed a grant of £50,000 to St Paul’s Hall towards the replacement of its ageing flat roof.

The existing roof has been patched and repaired many times over the years but now leaks regularly. Covering a sizeable area of the hall complex, including the kitchen, Coffee Lounge, toilets, vestibule and part of the main hall, the roof requires full replacement. Associated works will also see the some of the plasterboard ceilings as well as soffits, fascias and gutters replaced. Due to asbestos being present, a specialist team will carry out removal and disposal.

Martin Barrow from St Paul’s Hall said: “The hall is a vital facility for our community, and this project will ensure the building is fully weatherproof and protected for many years to come. We are hugely grateful for the support from Manx Lottery Trust, which has allowed us to progress with such a significant piece of work.”

The funding has been awarded through the Trust’s Community Awards Programme, which supports local organisations with projects that strengthen communities and improve quality of life across the Island. Charities, community groups and not-for-profit organisations can apply for support with projects that make a positive difference.

David Christian, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, said: “St Paul’s Hall plays an important role in community life, hosting a wide range of activities and events. We are pleased to support the hall in completing these essential improvements, helping to safeguard its future use.”

In recent years, the hall has already benefitted from a new pitched roof, ceiling and lighting works, as well as ongoing improvements to accessibility. This latest project marks a significant step in ensuring the facility remains a safe and welcoming space for all.

This work started in the spring of 2026.
