SUCCESS OF WARM SPACE SESSIONS AT MAROWN BOWLING CLUB

Manx Lottery Trust awarded Marown Bowling Club with funding for it to host a weekly warm space for members of the local community.

The Crosby based club used the £400 grant to open the Clubhouse each Monday afternoon, and offer a warm space for people to gather, and help themselves to tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits.

This grant was from the Trust’s Community Warm Spaces Fund, which was launched to assist with the costs incurred from hosting the warm space events, such as heating, electric, and providing food and drink.

Phil Kelly, Treasurer at Marown Bowling Club, said: ‘The warm space Mondays were a great success, more so than we anticipated! Not only did we have on average 20-25 people each week, but we had people attending from across the Island. Our Clubhouse was an ideal setting, and it was so good to be able to welcome so many people in and offer them warmth, company, and a cuppa! Thank you to the Manx Lottery Trust for making this possible.’

Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘It was great to hear how many people attended and enjoyed Marown Bowling Club’s weekly warm space – it just shows how vital this programme was to our Island communities this winter.’

This grant is from the Manx Lottery Trust’s Community Warm Spaces Fund, which is funded by the Isle of Man Government. This grant programme ended on 31st March 2023, to see our other programmes, head to: www.mlt.org.im/grant-programmes/
