RENOVATIONS UNDERWAY FOR 1ST RAMSEY SCOUT GROUP HQ

Northern Scouts will benefit from improvements to its headquarters in Ramsey following Manx Lottery Trust funding.

A Smaller Grant of £2,500 has been awarded to 1st Ramsey Scout Group to fund the replacement of its old and tired flooring. This forms part of a wider long-term project; the complete renovation of the Shipyard Road based Scout HQ, which the Group is currently working towards.

1st Ramsey Scout Group is one of 15 Scout Groups and six Explorer Scout Units in the Isle of Man, providing skills for life and fantastic adventurous experiences to more than 700 local young people.

Paul Aldridge from 1st Ramsey Scout Group said: ‘We are working hard to fund and manage improvements to our headquarters in Ramsey, and this grant from Manx Lottery Trust to replace the flooring is greatly appreciated. It will help us continue to deliver a diverse and inclusive programme of activities to our 80 plus members in a safe and welcoming environment. Thank you Manx Lottery Trust.’

Sarah Kelly, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘1st Ramsey Scout Group is long-established in the north of the Island and we are pleased to offer our support to its renovation project. It is important it has a safe environment to deliver the activities to young people so hopefully the new flooring will help in doing so.’

Manx Lottery Trust’s Smaller Grant Programme provides community funding between £300 and £2,500. Information and application forms can be found at www.mlt.org.im/grant-programmes.
