MANX LOTTERY TRUST SUPPORTS THE DEEP SOUTH FESTIVAL

The Deep South Festival has received a grant from Manx Lottery Trust to go towards the purchase of new equipment for the event.

The grant will enable the music festival organisers to purchase new tents and gazebos to provide shelter for artists and stewards and also additional seating for attendees.

Last year’s festival had live music across three stages and showcased amateur dramatics, poetry, dancing, lectures, Manx heritage and storytelling. The additional tents and seating will mean the event can expand and host more visitors.

The Deep South Festival 2017 will see headliners ‘The Beat’ and ‘Dodgy’ play as well as many more guest bands from the UK.

Chris Carr, Project Director from the Deep South Festival, said: ‘When we started the festival back in 2013, about 400 people attended. Last year’s gate receipts reveal more than 2,000 visitors. It is absolutely fantastic to see the festival grow and become a popular community event suitable for all the family, while being able to raise money for local and world-wide charities.

‘The additional tents will offer a space for the acts in between performances and for our stewards who work hard throughout the day, so thank you to Manx Lottery Trust for helping us to purchase these.’

Lulu Gillow, Chair of Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘Organisers of the Deep South Festival work tremendously hard to put the event on each year. We were pleased to give back to them and hope this will help them continue the festival for many years to come.’
